Asbestos Removal Services

Safe, fully compliant asbestos contractors for domestic & commercial properties in and around Birmingham.

WHAT DO WE COVER?

Twenty years in, we’ve removed pretty much every form asbestos takes across a Birmingham property — from a single Artex ceiling in a 1970s semi to a full pre-demolition clearance on an industrial unit.

That range matters, because asbestos doesn’t confine itself to one type of building: it turns up in homes, offices, warehouses, schools, and everywhere in between, and the right approach depends on knowing the material, not just following a generic checklist.

We’re HSE licensed for the work that requires it & fully insured.

HOW WE APPROACH REMOVAL FOR ALL JOBS

Removal isn’t a single step, and knowing roughly what each stage involves is usually what puts people at ease.

  1. Inspection first. Before anything is touched, an asbestos specialist examines the material on site — its type, condition, and how much of it there is — rather than working from a description or a photo. Where the material can’t be identified by sight, a small sample is taken for lab testing.
  2. Containment before removal. The work area is sealed off using sheeting and, for higher-risk jobs, negative-pressure air extraction, so fibres can’t spread beyond the immediate work zone into the rest of the property. Anyone carrying out the removal works in full protective equipment throughout.
  3. Controlled removal, not demolition. Material is taken down deliberately — wetted where appropriate to stop dust forming, lifted or cut in a way that avoids unnecessary breakage — because the goal is minimal disturbance, not speed.
  4. Sealing and clearance. Everything removed is double-bagged and sealed on site before it ever leaves the work area, so nothing is carried through the property loose. The area is then cleared and, for licensed work, independently air-tested before we call the job finished.
  5. Documentation. You’re left with a Waste Transfer Note and, where applicable, a clearance certificate — proof the job was done to standard, not just our word for it.

WHAT A TYPICAL RESIDENTIAL JOB LOOKS LIKE

Most residential enquiries fall into one of a few categories, and each has a slightly different shape:

Pre-purchase or pre-sale — A survey has flagged something, or you want peace of mind before completing. We can move quickly here, since solicitors and completion dates don’t wait.

Renovation-driven — Kitchen, bathroom, loft conversion, or extension work that’s about to disturb something — commonly Artex, floor tiles, or insulation. Timing this right, so the removal happens just ahead of your builder rather than holding the whole project up, is something we coordinate regularly.

Reactive — Something’s cracked, damaged, or was disturbed unexpectedly. This needs a faster response, and in some cases a decontamination visit rather than a standard removal if material has already been disturbed.

General peace of mind — No urgent trigger, just a homeowner who’d rather know than wonder. These are often the most straightforward jobs, since there’s no time pressure attached.

FAQs FOR RESIDENTIAL OR DOMESTIC REMOVAL

How quickly can removal happen if I'm under time pressure — a house sale, for example?

We understand exchange and completion dates don’t move, and we’ll always tell you honestly if a timeline is realistic rather than promising something we can’t deliver. Getting in touch as early as possible in the process gives us the most room to work with.

Often not. Small, contained jobs — a single Artex ceiling, a garage roof — rarely require you to leave. Larger or higher-risk jobs may need part of the property sealed off temporarily. We’ll tell you exactly what your specific job requires before booking, not after.

Having asbestos identified and properly removed, with documentation, generally reassures buyers and lenders rather than causing problems — it’s undisclosed or unmanaged asbestos that tends to cause delays. A completed removal with paperwork is usually a stronger position than an unresolved query.

It varies significantly depending on the material and quantity involved — a single ceiling is very different to a whole-property clearance. We give a fixed price after seeing the job, so you’re never working from a vague estimate.

Yes, this is one of the most common things we coordinate — letting us know your project timeline upfront means we can usually slot the removal in just ahead of the trades that need the space clear.

That uncertainty is exactly why it’s worth getting in touch rather than guessing either way. We can advise over the phone on what to avoid doing in the meantime, and arrange testing or a site visit to give you a definite answer.

WHAT A TYPICAL COMMERCIAL JOB LOOKS LIKE

Commercial enquiries tend to follow a smaller set of patterns, but each brings different practical constraints:

Refurbishment or fit-out — A planned strip-out, office refresh, or change of use that’s about to disturb materials in the building fabric, often board, cement sheeting, or floor tiles. Getting the survey and removal done ahead of your contractor’s start date keeps the wider project on schedule.

Duty to Manage compliance — No specific incident, just a business finally addressing its legal obligation to identify and manage asbestos in a pre-2000 building. Often starts with a survey or an ongoing risk assessment and management plan rather than removal.

Tenant, landlord, or insurance-driven — Someone else in the chain has asked a question about the building’s asbestos status, and you need a clear answer with documentation behind it.

Pre-demolition or redevelopment — Larger-scale clearance ahead of construction work, usually requiring a refurbishment/demolition survey and a phased abatement or remediation plan.

FAQs FOR COMMERCIAL REMOVAL

How does asbestos removal fit around a refurbishment or fit-out timeline?

We work backwards from your contractor’s start date wherever possible — getting the survey and removal completed ahead of the trades that need the space clear, rather than becoming the thing holding the project up.

With a survey, not removal. Most businesses in this position simply don’t have a clear picture yet of what’s in the building. Once that’s established, we can advise on what needs managing, encapsulating, or removing, and in what order.

Yes, this is a common starting point for commercial enquiries. We can usually arrange an assessment promptly and provide the kind of documented answer that satisfies a tenant, insurer, or landlord’s query.

A refurbishment and demolition survey first, which is more thorough than a standard management survey, followed by a phased removal or abatement plan matched to your construction schedule.

Yes — for multi-phase or larger commercial jobs, you’ll deal with the same point of contact from initial survey through to final documentation, rather than being passed between different people at each stage.

The pricing principle is the same — a fixed quote after assessment — but commercial jobs more often involve additional factors like out-of-hours working, phased access, or larger areas, which we account for in the quote once we understand the scope.
